"We are growing with PVC-free medical compounds"

Success story Melitek
The demand for PVC-free materials in the pharmaceutical, medical, and food industries has been steadily increasing for years. More and more companies are turning to phthalate-free products and specialized material solutions - a market trend that the Danish compounder Melitek A/S recognized early on and successfully capitalized on.
Managing Director Kim Laursen looks back proudly on the company’s development: “What we have achieved over the past ten years, we would be happy to repeat in the next five."
He is referring to the remarkable doubling of sales that Melitek has achieved through the production and distribution of its PVC-free specialty compounds. Materials such as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and other compounds for sensitive applications are in higher demand than ever.
A partnership of more than 25 years
A key pillar of this success is the long-standing and trusting collaboration with KraussMaffei Extrusion (formerly Berstorff). Since the first test runs in 1998, Melitek has relied on the twin-screw extruders.
Following the initial ZE 75A UT and ZE 25A UT systems, the company added a ZE 75A UTX modular line in 2012, followed by another compact system, the ZE 30A UTX, in 2014.
In 2021, Melitek invested once again in state-of-the-art extrusion technology: a complete system featuring a ZE 98 of the BluePower series. With an output of 3,000 kg/h, it offers double the throughput of the previous ZE 75 line - a significant boost in productivity.
A strong example of true partnership
Melitek and KraussMaffei have now been working together successfully for more than a quarter of a century. This longstanding cooperation demonstrates how strong partnerships can accelerate technological developments and create sustainable, successful solutions.
