Cornell Madlung looks back on highlights of the K
The K celebrates its birthday! In 1952, what is now the largest plastics trade show in the world opened its doors for the first time - and KraussMaffei was there from the very beginning. In this AHEAD series, long-time K attendees talk about technical highlights, emotional moments and what they´re looking forward to at the 70th anniversary this year. Cornell Madlung, Coordinator Helpline, recalls 219 eventful days in Düsseldorf and the monster of the K'07.

Can you still remember your first K trade fair?
Cornell Madlung
Yes, it is always impressive to see the transformation of the hall. From the moment you are the first to enter the empty, huge exhibition hall, in which a truck looks like a toy car, and compare it with what has finally emerged at the start of the fair.

How many K-fairs have you been a part of?
Cornell Madlung
So far, there have been six K shows. All of them since 2004 with a total of 219 days in Düsseldorf for set-up, trade fair operations and dismantling.

What has been your highlight over the years?
Cornell Madlung
Definitely the K2007 with the KM2300 MXW - also known as the monster of the K'07. This included the closing installation in the outdoor area of Messe Düsseldorf, then the transport of 200 tons into the exhibition hall and finally the completion of the entire installation to a good 300 tons. Simply tremendous!

What has changed since you started?
Cornell Madlung
Our booth itself and the people you deal with have changed. But the challenge of doing something special is still the same.

What are you looking forward to this year?
Cornell Madlung
As always, to the change from everyday life, to creating something together in a good team. To seeing old acquaintances again as well as making new contacts.
