First stop Einbeck

Our KraussMaffei site tour
KraussMaffei colleagues all over the world develop, build and maintain our machines. In the following series, we would like to introduce you to some of our locations and give you an insight into the KraussMaffei plant landscape. Our first stop is in Einbeck at Burgsmüller.
Burgsmüller GmbH in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, is our competence centre for screw elements and helical components. Around 100 employees manufacture here for KraussMaffei as well as for other customers from other industries.
Burgsmüller's product range includes a wide variety of process engineering parts for extrusion technology, such as screw elements, shafts and barrels, which are manufactured in the company's own metalworking centres.
The product range also includes screw conveyors, pump rotors and various threaded spindles. The latter can be manufactured seamlessly up to a length of eleven metres and a diameter of 300 mm.
The products are used in drive technology, special machine construction and in the packaging industry.
Hunting rifles for kings
Founded in 1876, Burgsmüller initially became famous for its exclusive hunting weapons. The company supplied royal families throughout Europe.
Later, sewing machines and bicycles also came from the factory in Kreiensen. Thanks to intensive research and development activities, Burgsmüller was one of the most innovative metalworking companies.
Among other things, the internal and external whirling processes, which are used by all spindle manufacturers today, can be traced back to the company.
Precision components for extruders
Burgsmüller components are primarily used in twin-screw extruders from a wide range of manufacturers. Vortex technology plays a decisive role here.
It enables the production of high-precision symmetrical and asymmetrical curved and rotational surfaces with high surface qualities. Whirling technology is particularly economical as production time and material consumption are low.
Family member for over 30 years
In 1990, the former Hermann Berstorff Maschinenbauanstalt GmbH in Hanover took over Burgsmüller GmbH from Kreiensen. Since the takeover of Berstorff by KraussMaffei in 1994, Burgsmüller has been part of the KraussMaffei Group.
In 2020, the company moved to the newly built plant in Einbeck. Modern workshops and offices with a total area of 8,000 m² were built on the 20,000 m² site in a short construction period.
Classic cars, speciality beers and Hanseatic flair
However, Einbeck is not only known for precisely manufactured metal components. The Einbeck brewery is one of the oldest in Germany and the town is known as the cradle of bock beer.
The many half-timbered houses of the old Hanseatic town and the Einbecker PS.Speicher are also attractive. With six floors, it is the centrepiece of Europe's largest automobile museum with over 2500 exhibits.
And those looking for a nature experience will find rewarding destinations in the nearby Harz Mountains, Solling and Weserbergland.
